Two New Sherwood Users in 2024-25?

Sherwood Hockey, a brand known for its rich history in the sport, has been making serious strides in recent seasons. Once overshadowed by bigger brands like Bauer and CCM, Sherwood has reinvented itself by revamping its product line, particularly its sticks and gloves. This has not only caught the attention of hockey enthusiasts but also some of the biggest stars in the NHL.
With the likes of William Nylander, Matthew Tkachuk, and last year’s first overall pick, Connor Bedard, already joining their team, Sherwood is showing that they are serious contenders in the competitive hockey gear market. As we look toward the 2024-25 NHL season, Sherwood might be welcoming two new additions to its growing family: Pierre-Luc Dubois of the Washington Capitals and Anthony Beauvillier of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Pierre-Luc Dubois, who recently joined the Capitals, has been a long-time Bauer user throughout his NHL career. From his skates to his gloves, Bauer has been Dubois’ brand of choice. However, something appears to be shifting. This summer, Dubois was spotted on multiple occasions using Sherwood’s Rekker Legend Pro stick while playing in the LSHL, in his home province of Quebec. His decision to switch to Sherwood from Bauer, even just for his stick, is a significant move that could signal a more broad trend among NHL players. Sherwood has made major investments in product development, and their hard work seems to be paying off.
While it remains to be seen if Dubois will stick with Sherwood throughout the season, his early preference for the Rekker Legend Pro is certainly a strong indicator of what could come. Dubois has been using the stick consistently in the lead-up to the new season, including a few days ago as the Capitals have begun their informal skates. Fans and gear enthusiasts alike are eager to see if he will officially debut with the Sherwood stick in his first preseason game.
Beauvillier, another player to watch, has also been seen using Sherwood’s Rekker Legend Pro stick during the offseason. Like Dubois, Beauvillier has primarily been a Bauer stick user throughout his career, though he has mixed in some CCM gear for other equipment. His willingness to try out the Sherwood stick suggests that the brand’s innovations are turning heads among established NHL players.
While Beauvillier has not yet been spotted with Sherwood gloves, it wouldn't be surprising if we saw him make a full switch in the near future. As with Dubois, the preseason will be an interesting time to see whether Beauvillier continues to use Sherwood sticks and perhaps adds more Sherwood gear to his arsenal.
If Dubois and Beauvillier both commit to Sherwood this season, it would mark another huge win for the brand. Sherwood has already managed to secure star players like Bedard, Nylander, Tkachuk, and Alex DeBrincat which has undoubtedly contributed to the brand’s growing visibility at the youth level and in pro leagues around the world. A shift by Dubois and Beauvillier would only further cement Sherwood’s reputation as a top-tier hockey gear provider.
Hockey equipment enthusiasts will undoubtedly be watching closely as the 2024-25 season unfolds. The potential addition of two NHL players to the Sherwood roster could be a significant turning point for the brand as they continue to make inroads in the market. While only time will tell if this partnership will last, one thing is certain: Sherwood is no longer the underdog in the world of hockey equipment. They are making serious moves, and the rest of the hockey world is taking notice.
